Students will learn about eight different colour-schemes, choosing one to work with throughout the day, such as: Bright Earth, Intense, Desert or Delicate. In the afternoon, students switch to drawing mediums and tools, looking at natural objects as their sources of inspiration. Blind contour, contour, gestural and observational drawing skills and a writing exercise will be covered. The last project of the day, is a fun and fast-paced process, that teaches students, how to abstract shapes from natural objects.

2. MAKING MARKS THROUGH ACTIONS

Students will create a 26-page concertina book to work in throughout the day. Our morning begins, by exploring mark-making and creating backgrounds, with an array of tools and materials. We will work with a natural earthy palette, applying tea, India ink and my two home-made inks, Walnut and Acorn cap. In the afternoon, students will explore alternative ways of mark-making as well as creating surfaces using unconventional methods such as: burning, smoking, piercing, scoring, rubbing, folding, and cutting. We will utilize a range of unique tools, including an awl, fire, smoke, pipette, wax and string to name a few.

This is an exciting and action packed day.
