STUDIO PRACTICES

MARK MAKING

Drawing is the touchstone of my art practice and involves extensive explorations of mark making in a wide variety of mediums and techniques.

In my current work, I manipulate paper through the unconventional methods of piercing, smoking, burning, rubbing, cutting and folding. My work is built up in collaged layers creating a sense of textured density.

INSPIRATION BOARD

TEXTURES INSPIRED BY “THE WRACK LINE”

The wrack line is an ecological bridge between land and sea. "Wrack," is the tangled mass of seaweed found on beaches around the world. It washes in with the high tide and lingers long after the waters recede. Click here: to see my photos of the wrack line.

The images below are segments from the mixed media collage work in the “SeaForms” series.
